There’s a myth commonly believed by job seekers that needs to be busted…
“By applying for as many jobs as I can, I’ll gain employment sooner”.
I can’t begin to share how ineffective this mindset is when on the job search path. It’s not like playing the lottery where the more tickets you buy, the greater your chances of ‘winning’. Effective job search starts with a strategic approach. Understand where your transferable skills fit within the market, ensuring your job application documentation correctly reflects what you offer.
In my role as Career Coach, I commonly hear from individuals who are applying for eight (8) jobs per week because this is what they are being directed to do by their Employment Consultant. Sadly, it doesn’t matter how many jobs you apply for if you don’t satisfy the requirements of the advertised role.
